About AMSA Bangladesh
AMSA Bangladesh started its journey back in August '05 as a local chapter of AMSA International and a non-political, non-racial, non-profit organization. The primary goal of AMSA Bangladesh is to make the Bangladeshi medical students more competent, concerned and pro-active in a global context, specifically in Asian context rather than thinking just locally. AMSA Bangladesh became the 11th FULL MEMBER in AMSA International family on August 20, 2006.
21st EAMSC, Bangkok & Pattaya, 9-13 January, 2008
For the first time, AMSA Bangladesh is sending a participant to 21st East Asian Medical Students' Conference to be held in Bangkok and Pattaya, 9-13 January, 2008. The participant is Md Naimul Hashan (Plaban), 2nd year student of Sir Salimullah Medical College (SSMC), Dhaka. Naimul will present a booth presentation based on the theme of the conference "Alcohol : Medical & Social Aspects in Bangladesh". As a recognition of Naimul's activities as a local coordinator in SSMC, he has been nominated for TAG from AMSA International.
AMSA Bangladesh members respond to the call for help to the Sidr victims
AMSA Bangladesh mourn for the departed souls on the attack of the fiercest hurricane Sidr on November 15, 2007 and expresses deepest sympathy for the helpless victims. The members of AMSA Bangladesh has raised funds to be donated to the Chief Adviser's Fund for Relief & Welfare. We also collected 3 cartons of old clothes and utencils which have already been distributed in Barisal through a group of volunteer nonmedical students. Our sincere gratitude goes toward all AMSABD members and medical personnels who have made donations.
AMSA Bangladesh introduces AMSA to JMSA
AMSA Bangladesh is glad to introduce AMSA International to Jordanian Medical Students' Association (JMSA). Upon introduction, Loiy Alkhatib - a medical student from Jordan was very eager to join 21st EAMSC to experience the friendship of AMSA. Although he could not become successful this time, we hope the relationship will continue in near future and Jordan will become a member country of AMSA.
28th AMSC, Seoul, Korea, 22-29 July, 2007
This year, two participants of AMSA Bangladesh joined 28th AMSC in Seoul, Korea, 22-29 July, 2007. The participants were: RC - Mostakimur Rahman Zudan and Chief delegate - Dr. Mohammad Rakibul Hasan. The theme of the conference was "Cancer in Asia - Incidence, Suffereing and Prevention". AMSA Bangladesh took part in paper presentation on "Cancer - As a Social Problem in Bangladesh" which created much enthusiasm among the audience. We also participated in AMSA International Exhibition where the activities of AMSA Bangladesh were presented through handouts and the annual souvenir of AMSA Bangladesh. One of our successful effort was selling of T Shirts as a charity for cancer patients in Bangladesh. AMSA Bangladesh ackonowledge AMSA International to provide Travel Assistance Grant (TAG) to cover the airfare. Participation in post AMSC EC meetings and training programmes helped us a lot in capacity building to become more active.
AMSA Bangladesh Executive Committee 2007-08
The new Executive Committee of AMSA Bangladesh 2007-08 have been set up in August, 2007. Mostakimur ahman Zudan from Northern International Medical College became both the President Regional Chairperson (RC) of AMSA Bangladesh Executive Committee 2007-08. Helping The Flood Victims
This year, massive flood has washed away crops of thousands of hectares of land, millions of people have lost their houses and almost all their belongings. It is our duty to stand by them. As medical students, we express our sincerest sympathy for them, as well as wish to help them by raising funds to buy them medicine and paddy seedlings to plant after the flood. You can be a part of this noble effort too!
AMSA Bangladesh Becomes FULL Member in AMSA Family
August 20, 2006 is a memorable day for AMSA Bangladesh! On this day, AMSA Bangladesh has become a full member of AMSA family. The journey was not smooth. We had and still have limitations, but we always have tried our best, as much as we could. We must acknowledge our friends from all other member countries who have supported us, encouraged us. We hope to prove ourself as an active member, inspired with the same AMSA spirit!
